There doesn't appear to be a hotkey to open a waypoint window to edit or remove any existing waypoints, and all of the death waypoints do not vanish after. Ctrl+b to enter waypoints menu there in the options you can turn off death markers. I'm glad i had it so i could find my way back, but now it's just irritating, constantly sitting there.

Enabling mapping restored the waypoints. I can't seem to find an option to turn them off. There's now two death markers on the map/screen and. If you're using the latest journey map mod, the new hotkey is 'j'.
It's a map waypoint that gets placed upon death, look in the waypoints list and then remove them With #waypoints delete death you can only delete them one by one. The beacon disappears, the entry in the waypoints list. Those death waypoints are from the ftb maps btw, you can remove them from the map which shows up if you press 'm'.
You may have to change the key that brings up the map menu.
