Only glass blocks and glass panes can stop them from climbing (image via minecraft 1.19 update) as mentioned above, almost all solid blocks can be climbed by. And make sure no hills or trees are. When the cactus grows, it breaks off and can fall into the left water stream.

I'm not entirely sure about that, because there's a gap.
Spiders cannot climb ladders (actually, only can climb ladders) they can, however, just jump over them.the opposite is true for fences.
A spider is a neutral mob that attacks the player in dark areas. As the spiders try to climb, they bump the cacti and take damage. The partial album for this build is up. This is a design f. Spiders can't jump while climbing up a wall. So you just found your first village in minecraft and you need to secure it?
